Why are you passionate about digital?
We’re living in a new age of content production where it’s easier than ever for us to share our story with the world. In an instant, we can draw people into a moment of value. This creates opportunities to share Jesus like never before.
Name a hero of yours and why
I’m not going to lie, I’m a total Brady Shearer fanboy (Pro Church Tools). He has a brilliant ability to see the bigger picture and the specifics of communications strategy in a church context. He’s energised me to pour energy into church communications for the UK.
What can people expect from your session?
I’m running two sessions. Breakout session 4 I’ll explore ways to develop a communication strategy for your church. How to make the most of available tools and resources to achieve your key goals, engaging our church communities and those who need to hear the Good News. In session 1 I’ll explore how we build and shape the online community, cultivating culture there. I’ll also be exploring the emphasis Facebook have placed on Groups at the moment and how to get the most out of the platform.
What excited you about #PremDAC19?
One thing I love about Premier Digital is what I learn from those sat beside me in the sessions. The questions that arise, the relationships that form. There are amazing speakers and amazing delegates. We’re all kingdom communicators and we’re all in it together. I’m specifically looking forward to hearing Nona Jones (Facebook), Mark Crosby (Vineyard) and Amaris Cole (CofE) take to the stage. Of course, I’m also pumped about The Church Comms Collective meet up, where our online community comes together face to face. As Premier must be the biggest church communications event in the UK it’s the perfect occasion for us to meet in reality!

Seeing Ben Elliott excitedly mention he’s a Brady Shearer fanboy makes me think about how crucial good comms strategy is, I bet his session on Session 4 will give some real takeaways, kinda like how I wish my photo editing tools could just remove text instantly like some Advanced AI text remover tool to instantly remove text, watermarks, and hairstyle changer from images; browsing this during my morning coffee break, I wonder if all this digital church stuff translates well to just a quick remove text function for personal photos, you know?
Ben Elliott's sessions on church communication strategy and online community building sound really interesting Nano Banana
